This is a Portabote. Mounted is a 300watt 24volt dc motor powered by a lithium 30amp hour battery. The motor produces 300watts at 24v/15amps at 2750 rpm.
The motor is mounted to a 1976 Chrysler 5hp Outboard leg. The propellor is 7.5"diameter by 6" pitch. The reduction in the leg is 14 to 21 teeth. Flat out the boat does about 4 miles per hour. All up weight for the outboard is 9kg, the battery also weighs 9kgs.
The motor and controller are from an electric bicycle. The motor is directly coupled to the vertical shaft by a flexible coupling. The speed is controlled by a simple potentiometer.
